Client: Transport services company
How many repair orders the warehouse stock actually covers
A Power BI report showed which warehouses ran short of parts most often, and the company used it to rethink its stock.
Result
Stock levels reviewed using real data
Problem
The company runs several service locations, each with its own warehouse. When a repair order is registered, the parts it needs should already be on the shelf. Nobody knew how often that was true. The data existed, but no report showed it.
What I built
I wrote SQL queries that pull data straight from the company's PostgreSQL database, plus the DAX measures for a Power BI report. The report has two pages. The first shows how many orders were fully covered by stock on hand, and how many were short one part, two parts, or more. You can break it down by warehouse, part category, order or individual part, for any period from a full year down to a single day. On the second page, each row expands down to the individual order and the parts used on it.
Result
Managers could see which warehouses ran short most often and which parts went missing most. The company used this to rethink which parts it keeps in stock and where, so the service locations could work more productively.
